This was the 70's, a time before play dates, cable television and video games, and our house was situated on a street with only one other house nearby. So much of my time was spent playing on my own.
Why Are We Afraid of Ghosts? The very fact that ghosts are a source of much fear for many people seems somewhat bewildering to me. The reason is probably because they represent the 'unknown' and this factor is unsettling to the human psyche. But why should the unknown be something that causes such angst?
Ghosts and Spirits - The Difference It is very evident when going on a ghost hunt event that there is a lot of talk about communicating with spirit. Ghosts are also mentioned but it seems that when there is activity it is the word spirit that is used. There is a very big difference between the two entities.
Ghost Hunting - The Thrill of the Hunt Ghost Hunting is an exceptionally unique and thrilling experience. During a ghost hunt event we may find ourselves behaving in ways that we did not know that we were capable of. We can truly face our fears and be given answers to some very soul searching questions. As a ghost hunt organiser I always tend to look at our ghost hunts on two very separate levels.
Pirate Ghosts - Tales of Hauntings at Sea This compilation of horror shorts written by such literary giants as H. P. Lovecraft, Robert Bloch and Washington Irving promises the reader 'with bloodcurdling buccaneers, spectral ships, uncanny experiences under the Jolly Roger and eerie spirits from a historic past that refuses to stay dead'. Pretty high expectations, huh?
Calvados Castle, Normandy France Calvados Castle was built in 1835, in Normandy France, directly on top of the ruins of an unidentified building. From October 12, 1875 to January 30, 1876, the inhabitants of Calvados Castle endured one of the most prolonged and terrifying occurances of poltergeist phenomena ever recorded.
What Exactly is a Ghost? It doesn't matter what part of the world you come from or what religious faith you belong to, people all over the world are fascinated with death and the possibility of an afterlife. Most live in hope of "something" after this life. Some claim to have seen such entities or have photographic proof of their existence. More often than not these specters have evil inclinations and create fear at a primeval level. But what exactly is a ghost?
Haunted Houses - Not For Everyone What is it about Halloween that transforms ordinary people into seekers of anything dark and unknown? Cemeteries at night, horror films by the dozen or one of the most popular and oldest traditions - the haunted house!
Paranormal - Do You Believe? One out of three people surveyed, in the October 1999 Gallup Poll, said that they believed in ghosts. This is 3 times more then in the 1970's. But do they really exist? Or even can they exist? For all of you that are like my co-worker & say absolutely not, to both of these questions, think for a minute a few other things that people have believed to be true.
Ghosts Subjected To Research The term 'ghost' generically refers to various types of subtle (invisible) bodies such as demons, devils, witches, etc. who have the intention of harming others. The Spiritual Science Research Foundation has undertaken extensive research on ghosts in order to demystify this widespread phenomenon and help people in recognising and treating the adverse effects caused by ghosts through proven methodology according to the Spiritual science.
